A crisp winter morning and icy temperatures did little to dampen the enthusiasm at Laerskool Barberton Primary, where the school's annual Midi Hockey Day brought together young players from across the Lowveld for a day of exciting hockey and great sportsmanship.

As the sun climbed higher, it turned into a beautiful day, providing the perfect backdrop for the tournament. Parents, grandparents, family members and friends arrived in their numbers to cheer on the aspiring hockey stars, creating a wonderful atmosphere of encouragement and community spirit around the fields.

Teams from Laerskool Nelspruit, Nelspruit Primary School, Laerskool Laeveld, Komatipoort Akademie, Laerskool Malelane, Laerskool Witrivier and hosts Laerskool Barberton Primary took part in the annual event. Both boys' and girls' under 9 and 10 teams displayed determination, teamwork and plenty of talent as they competed throughout the morning.

While the results were important, the true success of the day lay in the friendships made, the skills developed and the enjoyment shared by players, coaches and supporters alike. Events such as these continue to strengthen hockey in the region while giving young players valuable match experience in a positive and supportive environment.

Laerskool Barberton Primary once again proved to be excellent hosts, ensuring another successful edition of a tournament that has become a highlight on the local primary school hockey calendar.
